On the Horizon
In "On the Horizon" Hodgson seeks to raise awareness on how global energy generation strategies, designed to reduce the dangerously high levels of environmentally damaging CO2 in our atmosphere for the benefit of the world as a whole, can have a disastrous local effect on the lives of ordinary people. This series is a study on how the residents, in the rural area of the Lenches, Worcestershire might be adversely affected by a proposal to build five, 125-metre high wind turbines, some possibly within 600 metres of their homes. The people photographed here stand immersed in the peacefulness of the landscape and silently contemplate the impending sacrifice they may have to make for the benefit of others. Will the proposal outcome allow something alien, unwanted, and noisy to come and blight the lives of these unfortunate people and change this idyllic English landscape for generations to come, or will the result have a more optimistic ending for them?
